WaveTouch Design Principles

The fingerprint of design that lingers.

Where the magic comes in.

I approach game design the way a musician develops a theme. I start with a small idea, try it in different ways, and come back to it later in the level. My process looks like this:

  • Start small, then layer on complexity. Even a basic mechanic or shape can echo throughout a level if you build on it carefully.

  • Use tension and release. I don’t hand out rewards right away. Holding back builds suspense and gives players a reason to stay engaged.

  • Revisit and repurpose. I like to turn traps into puzzles, or send players back through earlier areas that have changed. It keeps familiar spaces interesting.

  • Design with shapes in mind. When sketching layouts, I think in terms of spatial patterns and loops. Moving through the world should feel satisfying, not just functional.

  • Let the systems lead. I pay attention to what the mechanics suggest, and I reinforce the emergence.

In short, I build a sturdy framework and allow room for improvisation within it.
